The Plan of Salvation: Faith
Read: Heb 10:35-39.note v.38
What is Faith?
Definition of Faith: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of
what we do not see.” Heb 11:1
Faith is an absolute necessity for believers. It is the basis of our salvation.
We must believe in our hearts that God is real, that Jesus really died for us, that
he was resurrected and that salvation is real.
John 1:12; Rom 1:16-17; Rom 10:9-10 The Word of God says:
- We are justified by faith-Rom 5:1
- We are God’s children by faith-Gal 3:26
- We are kept by the power of faith 1 Peter 1:5; l Cor 15:1-4
Why We Need Faith
We need faith because without it we cannot gain God’s acceptance. Heb 11:6
Faith and Prayer
Prayer is useless unless we can believe and put our trust in God. It is only effective
and fruitful when founded on faith and trust in God’s Word. There must be a belief
in our heart that God’s Word is true. Matt 21:21; Mark 9:23; John 14:12; Rom 4:3;
James 1:5-7; 1 John 5:14, 15; Mark 11:23-25.

The Faith
Entering the Faith
The faith is not:
- A vague belief in something spiritual;
- An attempt to be good;
- Joining an organization.
The faith is believing what is true, as shown to us in the Bible. It is based on
specific truths.
The fundamental understanding we need in order to enter the faith is:
- There is a God who created everything, who is good and just, and to whom we will
have to give an account for our lives (2 Corinthians 5:10; 2 Timothy 4:1; Hebrews
12:23; Revelation 20:11-14);
- Jesus was a real historical person who lived approximately 2000 years ago and was
executed by crucifixion. He was also God himself who had become a human being (John
1:1; 20:28; Philippians 2:6). God the Father raised Jesus (the Son of God) from
the dead and He is alive now. We can relate to Him and believe in Him for ourselves.
This personal belief is our entry into the faith.
